In our Science lessons, the students learn, study and explore. The teachers conduct fun experiments to help our students consolidate their learning. Let’s look at some of the highlights:
In Grade 1, our students have been learning about states of matter: solid, liquid and gas. In this lesson, the teacher them to conduct an experiment using ice and salt to see how water changes from one state of matter to the next. They also played with ‘Airzookas’ to see how particles move through the air. Finally (and what made the students the most happy), they made their own ooey-gooey slime!
In Grade 2, the recent topic has been living things and their environments, so for the activity in this lesson, they made their own dinosaur habitats! The students discussed what living things need, such as shelter, food and access to a water source, then they made the perfect habitat for their new pet toy dinosaurs. The students really enjoyed creating a world for their dinosaurs to live in.
Finally our Grade 5 students have recently been learning all about energy – the different kinds and where it comes from. In their Science lesson they were able to use solar-power, wind power and water power to activate various experiments and see the different types of energy at work for themselves.
